We love hazelnut coffee so much that we created a dessert bar to go with it. The taste is a little like those great candies that have a crispy shell, a creamy chocolate filling, and a hazelnut in the center. These bars are perfect for holidays—or any day.
Ingredients:
CRUST:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
Pinch salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
FILLING:
2 large eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup shredded coconut
3/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. For the crust, in a food processor, pulse together the flour, sugar, and salt. Pulse in the butter until just combined. Press the dough evenly over the bottom of an ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake about 10 minutes or until golden.
For the filling, whisk together the eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla, and baking powder. Stir in the coconut, hazelnuts, and chocolate chips. Spread the filling over the hot crust. Bake about 20 minutes more or until dark golden.
