This recipe was inspired by the flavors of Germany. Sour cream, sausage, and pickles make this our kind of salad.
Ingredients:
1 pound bratwurst
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and grated
3⁄4 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Pinch salt
1⁄4 cup coarsely chopped fresh parsley
1⁄4 cup chopped sweet or sour pickle (optional)
Instructions:
reheat broiler. Place bratwurst on a baking sheet or broiler pan. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until heated through, turning bratwurst once. When cool enough to handle, quarter bratwurst lengthwise, then cut crosswise into 1-inch pieces.
In a medium bowl, stir together the apple, sour cream, horseradish, lemon juice, and salt. Add the bratwurst, parsley, and pickle (if using); stir to combine. Serve cold or at room temperature.
