I’m Back!
November 30th, 2009
I just finished the last of the leftovers from Thanksgiving......I weigh 475 pounds now so don't be surprised when you see me on QVC tomorrow. That's me, not a special value on holiday blimps. Of course its mom's fault. If she could cook just a little less than perfect it would be a big help.
I sure hope all y'all had a restful and joyous holiday. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and we had a great time this year.
On Wednesday Bobby, mom and myself were down at the restaurant and signed books for customers and collected food for our local food bank. We do a lot of pickups on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for locals and seeing old friends is always one of my favorite parts of the week. Mom was busy out of town until Tuesday and for the first year I can remember didn't cook the big meal on Thursday so we went to Uncle Bubba's with 20 of our family members and friends. The food was so good and the weather was nice enough for us to eat outside, yes, outside. One of the many, many bonuses of living in the south.
I knew going in I had to save room because while mom didn't cook the lunch meal she had to have the leftover sandwich meal and offered fried turkey breast and glazed ham sandwiches later at her house. That's where I hurt myself, as usual, at momma's table.
And just like that, Thanksgiving is in the rear-view mirror and Christmas is bearing down on us like a runaway sleigh. Tonight is the night that the Christmas tree goes up at our house and I am excited to tell y'all its gonna be a snap. Literally. I have a fake tree. It liked to kill me last year when Brooke said she wanted to go the box route but after fighting 12,583 lights the year before I relented. Now, I'm the happiest guy on the block. Ten feet of pre-lit holiday cheer.
But what about the smell of a real tree you ask? The scent of Christmas that lodges into our brain as children and brings us back to that magical day with no cares and boxes that explode every wish you make....it comes in a can. Seven ounces of holiday cheer.
Keep away from extreme temperatures.
It's great to talk to y'all again, thank you all for being patient and checking back in and a big special thanks to my friend Deb M. I just love ya! Thanks for thinking of me again....
We had our last big meeting this morning before we start our re-launch plans for the website January the first and I know y'all will really enjoy the changes. I think we came up with a way to get everyone involved.
I'll keep you posted, talk to you next week, do good things

Hi Jamie,
So glad everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving. In today’s hurried lifestyle the Christmas Tree in a box is great, putting lights on the tree was the part that was never fun for me. We have more fun now talking about where each ornament came from and the memories when we decorate the tree.
Have fun decorating, have a great week, and we hope we hear from you again next week!!

Hi Jamie!
I’m with you on the pre-lit tree!! My husband…not so much lol. Never thought of the whole pine scent in a can thing but I’m on it now! That will surprise him for sure. I’m very excited about the holidays and would love to in the South for sure. It’s not warm at all in New York but the snow is beautiful on Christmas morning. I’m even more excited for March 2010 when we will have the opportunity to come to the Lady and Sons to eat! We’re traveling to Florida for vac (Walt Disney World) and plan on stopping by. We did last year but no luck in getting a table because we were late. This year we are planning much better because my husband feels like his Disney World is Lady and Sons LOL! I can’t argue with that at all! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season and Merry Christmas…Happy New Year!!! Love Ya Bunches from New York…. Laurie

Hi Jamie,
Thank goodness you’re back! Bobby get a good job filling in for yeah!!! My Thanksgiving was terrible. I had to work Thanksgiving Day. All afternoon, and most of the evening. And get out of bed at 3:30 am. and be at work at 5 AM. To work on “black Friday”. I was very tired after work that day.
I’m going to be back in Savannah hopefully in May. To visit y’all, I hope I’ll see y’all again!
Good luck putting up the Christmas tree!!
Happy Holidays!!! Be safe!!
Bye, bye

Hey Jamie! I met you and your family that wednesday at the restaurant! You’ll probably remember my little nephew Kyle. You said he reminded you of your son =) Just wanted to say that you guys are all so nice and such good people! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. We almost went to Uncle Bubba’s for Thanksgiving… but my uncle decided to cook us dinner instead. Lady and Sons was our first choice but it was booked! Which is why we went wednesday instead. So glad we did because you guys were there! Tell Bobby that Sherrie says hi =)

Hey Jamie!
Glad everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
I do love Christmas..I have to confess, my birthday is the day after Christmas, and it absolutely STINKS!! “Merry Christmas, oh, and Happy Birthday” No fun having a birthday the day after!, but Christmas is a beautiful time of the year.
I agree with you about the boxed tree. I sure love the real Christmas trees, but the tangled lights and the mess after…ugh…thank goodness for boxed trees. Scent in the can and candles, you won’t know the difference, well, maybe a little!
I will be watching on QVC today.
Please tell Bobby that he is MISSED on Twitter!!!! He fell in love and disappeared!
Have a great week Jamie and be safe to and from QVC!

Nice to hear your Thanksgiving went well. I know what you mean about hurting yourself at the table. I had to hit the gym hard the next day. I made sure all the leftovers went with the family..LOL
I heard for those who attended the Deen dinner in DC are getting something special in the mail. I can’t wait.
I will see you guys in January on the cruise. Can’t wait to get away for vacation. Business has been crazy for me too. I am thankful but need a break. Can’t wait to have a few drinks with you guys and laugh.
New changes to the website can’t wait to see them.

Welcome back Jamie!
I watched you and Bobby on QVC and I couldn’t see any of those holiday pounds you were talking about. You all were cute and funny as always.
Have a good week.

Glad to have ya back Jamie! Although I haven’t read my blogs in weeks! I’ve kinda given up on my own too..that old facebook takes over!
My husband and I will be coming down to Savannah on the 11th for our 10 year anniversary. We’ll be there till the 14th. I am so excited. He hasn’t told me where we are staying or anything. All I know is that we have tickets to both Christmas tour of homes. So excited about that. I am going to stop by the restaurant and ask again about that salad dressing you told me about. It was so good, I gotta have some!
Take care boys!

It’s nice to hear from you again. I’m glad you had a great Thanksgiving. What is it about the holidays that gives you a tummy ache by the end of the day? Oh wait, I remember, it’s all that good food! How could I have forgotten that?!
There is nothing wrong with a tree out of a box - been doing it for years. It beats finding a few pine needles in March buried into the pile of the carpet. If you still like to have that real pine aroma around, do what I do and place wreaths on the doors or a pine bough centerpiece on a table or mantle. That way you can still enjoy wonderful pine scent and there’s alot less mess when it’s time to get rid of it.
Saw the QVC pic that you and/or Bobby placed on Twitter. I don’t know if you noticed when you were on there, but ‘thedeenbros’ has accumulated 2,000 (and counting) additional followers since I mentioned a couple of months ago that you had hit 5,000. That’s pretty darn good for a couple of guys that rarely tweet anymore. Not making any demands, or even a suggestion - just merely stating a fact. But, imagine how many followers you might have if you actually did tweet more often. At least that’s how I see it from my Twitterville Observatory perch. No pressure from here, though. I realize that life often gets in the way of the less important things. However, speaking for myself and some of my twitter friends, I must say that we do enjoy seeing you on there when you can!
And a request to my fellow blog followers: Jamie, Bobby, & Paula’s ‘like-family’ friend, Hollis Johnson (aka as hollisdeen on Twitter), is still trying to reach a follower goal on Twitter. So if you are on Twitter, sign on to follow him. HE actually does tweet regularly, and it’s often with news about Deen family happenings. He’s a great guy! I’ve really enjoyed following him. I think you will, too!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Hey Jamie,
I gave up on a real tree last year. It isn’t prelit but it sure saves my nerves with wondering how much and when to water the dang thing. I hope Christmas is good to all y’all this year.
Did Bobby fall in love and get married. I read he wanted to be a better husband, brother, son and uncle so I was kinda confused, if you know what I mean. I sure don’t live in a box under the bridge but I would have thought your mama would have said something about it on one of the shows I watch.

Hey Jamie,
looking fwd to January’s new addition.
Hope we see you both online more often after the New Year. Your videos at PD.com are so much fun, as you look like you’re having fun making them. Thank you for taking time to share, as well as for this blog.
Merry Christmas and Happiest New Year to you and all your family. Blessings over flow.

Hey Jamie,
Great to have you back! Looking forward to the re-launch of the website. We usually put up our tree during the thanksgiving weekend too and we’ve done both real and boxed and this year we voted for pre-lit boxed tree…love the convenience and no hassle! Watched you and Bobby on QVC and I have no idea what your talking about Jamie…I didn’t see any ‘holiday blimps’. The camera usually adds 10 lbs and still you looked slim!! You both look great!!
Jamie, THANKS for the idea!! Your probably wondering ‘What idea’?. A few blogs ago I read that you were picking up Jack from gymnastics and thought ‘what a great idea!’ ...so I signed them up. Their having a blast and at the same time, a great way for them to vent out some of that energy!!
Have a great week and HI to Bobby!!
Take care!!!

Hey Jamie
I can’t believe that it has taken me this long to post on your newest blog. I read it on my Blackberry last week and have just now had a chance to sit down at my computer. Now I know how you and Bobby must feel. No time to do anything. Working retail (Kohl’s) during the Holiday season is no fun at all. I have been working some crazy schedules and dealing with some impossible customers the last few weeks and I AM EXHAUSTED. So glad to hear that your Thanksgiving was great, so was mine.(ate way too much too) I can’t wait for Christmas and the New Year!!!! Hope you have a great Holiday season. I know you & Brooke are so anxious to watch Jack open all his present….can’t wait to see my neice Macy open her’s. Well I gotta go stir my Shrimp soup. Have a great week. Tell Bobby I said HEY!!! THANKS
