Back in Savannah…....
September 14th, 2009

for a few hours at least.

Well, we had an awesome first week out on the tour. It was nice to start up in Atlanta, close to home and I was able to stay at my in-laws house with my family.

Yes, I was as surprised as I have ever been in my life when the space to my left was unexpectedly filled up by Cindy Crawford. I am in the age group that considers her the first of the super model types and kind of swallowed my tongue when I saw her....she's no Brooke Deen but still a very pretty woman....and very nice too. We rode out onto Long Island for a book signing and had a nice turnout plus I was able to pick up The Beatles new remastered CD's, just in time for the endless, sit at the airport, ride in the car time we have in front of us.

So it's off to Kansas City tonight, Dallas Wednesday, Raleigh Thursday and back home in time for a local TV spot Friday. We also have a Barnes and Noble book signing here in Savannah Saturday night if y'all can make it down here we would love to see you.

Sorry to cut it short but I have an interview in a few then it's off to kiss my family for six hours until I have to leave.

Thank you for all the kind words and support for us about the book and all the things we do......it means alot.

Do good things
-jamie

Hey Jamie and Bobby, the ckbook arrived the other day.  About knocked the UPS guy over to get it!!  Ripped open the box, grabbed the book, tore off the cellophane paper, first looked at the signatures, then the pictures and then sat in my office chair with feet on the desk, work staring at me from the computer and started reading cover to cover.  What a great book.  I love it.  Liked your last one but I think this one is better.  It’s so e-zee as you say.

Can’t believe you guys are on tour during Dawg season.  Oh well.  My Bucs lost yesterday to Dallas.  A bummer.

Have fun on the tour.  Need more pictures of you on Twitter.  Look forward to hearing from you and seeing them.

Hey Jamie, don’t you feed your poor dog, Champ??? HA.

Bobby, tweet more!!!!

HUGS PLUS, Jann

Continued success on your tour and safe travels.

Looking forward to your book signing in Nashville next week!  By the way, the meatloaf in the muffin pan idea was genius! I don’t know why i never thought of that.. my hubby can now have meatloaf in the middle of the week which makes him a happy man.

Enjoy your family time- better known as the “priceless moments”:)

Savannah, here we come!  Thursday - Sunday we’ll be in your beautiful city and will get to see y’all on Saturday at the signing.  I can’t wait to get my copy of your new book.  Can you give any details as to the local TV spot on Friday?  Is it going to be live, or at least shown that day?  I would love to catch it while we’re there.
Thanks for taking the time to blog, given your very busy schedule.  Now, get off the computer and spend time with that family of yours before you have to hit the road again!  See you Saturday!

Hey Jamie and Bobby…
happy to hear things are going well for you on the book tour trail.  What a surprise with Cindy Crawford popping up…I thought it was sweet and priceless to watch both of your reactions and trust me my husband would of reacted the same way.
I agree with Hallie, the Mediterranean chicken and orzo is incredibly delicious!!! And so is the Turkey and Black bean burgers…Yum!!!  Looking forward to trying more recipes from your book. You guys should be very proud of it…it’s a GREAT cook book!
I’m hoping that we make it to the book signing on Saturday (fingers crossed) sometimes life gets in the way and plans change.  It’s always awesome to see you guys and it definitely would be great if we can stop by and say ‘Hi’ on Sat.
Wish you both safe travels…
Take care!

Hey Jamie,

All I can say is WOW!!!!  I love the new cookbook.  My package was leaning against my apartment door on Thursday and I just ripped right into it.  It was “Love at first turn”.  I love every page especially the front page that is autographed.  Gotta decide where I want you & Bobby to sign it this time when I come to your book signing in Alabama on the 24th. Can’t wait.  My sister is coming with me and she is also excited.  My niece’s birthday party was this past saturday and I made the little biscuit pizzas that you suggested and they were a HUGE hit.  Everyone loved them and when I told them they were a personal suggestion from you they ate even more. LOL.  I sent some pictures to your email from the “circles” party.  Hope you got them.  Anyway have fun on the book tour and I will see ya on the 24th.  Tell Bobby HEY for me…..thanks

Congrats again, another fine cookbook. Simple is the word and this book lives up to it. awesome pics, easy recipes, love that so much of the ingredient list is the day-to-day things we all use! smart book. Congrats, it will be a best seller smile

Jamie, kudos to you. a gentleman who loves his wife, it showed in your reaction to Cindy Crawford.
the surprise was prob meant for Bobby, but it caught you too. frankly, i didnt like her taking your short time on air but im not her fan. either case, it was nice to see your true love for Brooke showing thru the stardom. it creates more love and respect from your fans for you Deen men.

rumor is Ms Paula is ready for a talk show. how does she have time?

hope you fellas continue to have safe travels. happy you can see your families often in between.

Twitter when y’all can! post some pics here when you can! and thanks for the blog.
have fun, eat well.

Hey Jamie ~ Welcome to Texas, Wednesday!  Hopefully the rain will be gone by then.

Love your tag..“she’s no Brooke Deen….(Cindy Crawford)”  Now, that’s just sweet, and…so true!

Hey guys!  Love the new book.  It is absolutely wonderful and gorgeous, just like you guys, especially Bobby. (Sorry Jamie).  I am very upset that I will not be able to see you guys this year at any of the book signings or the NY Food and Wine Festival.  Your event is sold out and I cannot get tickets at all, unless you guys can help me?  Please??  My daughter has epilepsy and I cannot do the book signings here in NJ this year.  SHe wanted to see you guys but like I said, the event is sold out.  I have to break her heart and tell her no this year.  If you can help, I would love you forever.  THanks!  Have a great week!

You 2 are the funniest and best looking chefs around, my daughter and girlfriend are still smiling. I must say you do know how to make a new 60 year old happy and thanks for letting me take a picture with you, it meant the world to me. Haven’t had a chance to read to books yet but I’m sure if they are any thing like the one I have I’ll enjoy every recipe in it, well except for any grits recipe you may have, sorry Paula I’m not into grits.

I met yall at the signing in Dallas tonight and it was a pleasure talking to both of you guys.  Yall are so down to earth and so nice. I saw you Bobby on GMA, you’re sooo funny especially when Cindy Crawford came out and surpised you. Jamie, I’m the lady with the baby girl “Madison” and we were talking about Halloween costumes. Your son is so darn cute in his costume. I want to thank you again for adding my daughters name to the cook books, it really meant a lot. I’ll pray for you guys while yall are on tour and for your family awaiting for yall to get home. Take Care!

Just wanted to let you know the new cookbook is great.  Already made the Steak Spice Rub (minus the Cajun seasoning b/c I didn’t have any in the house).  It was still really good and I will be making it again (with the Cajun next time).  I am looking forward to trying many more of the recipes in the book.  Continued success with your tour.

Best of luck on the tour!  Can’t wait to get myself a copy!

Ya know guys, the Deen and Groover family is the absolute best but I am getting soooooo bummed!  I tried seeing your mother when she was supposed to come to Boston last month but was very sorry that she was sick and had to cancel.  I was hoping you guys would be lurking around on the stage.  Then I get an email to apply for tickets to Paula’s taping in NY this weekend but never even get a response to my request to tickets.  Besides Savannah being more than a hop, skip and a jump from Boston both my mother and I are disabled.  Fingers and everything crossed we’ll be healthy enough to make the cruise.  But hey…..what do you Suthrun folk have against Bahstun that you don’t come see us????  It’s a great place! <g>

Jody T. on September 18 2009

Hi, like Jody, I was bummed out too because I also applied for tickets to the NYC show with Paula and never heard anything.  Then I just checked my Twitter page and saw that Bobby posted he won’t be posting anymore.  That’s a bummer too.  I enjoyed hearing from The Brothers :-(  What happened?

Jamie please tell Bobby for Deb M. and me on how sorry we are that he will not be posting on twitter anymore….we hope you will continue to.

Jamie and Bobby,
What a fun weekend - held my first Deen Family Dinner (minus the Deen’s).  I hosted 11 friends in my home on Saturday night and we had a ball.  Everyone attending brought a dish, the only pre-requisite was that it had to be a Deen Family recipe.  Talk about some good food.  I made the Braised Chicken with Rosemary and Potatoes from your new cookbook.  We also enjoyed bourbon and brown sugar bacon, Bobby’s Hot Tomato Jack and Crab Dip, broccoli casserole, a salad that seemed to have everything in it including the kitchen sink, Southern buttermilk biscuit and blue cheese bread pudding and Corrie’s Carrot-Pecan Cake with cream cheese frosting.  In honor of our friend Susan heading off to Italy this week - I made an Italian dessert southern style - it was a Caramel Banana Tiramisu.  And the evening was started off with refreshing cucumber martinis.  I can’t wait for the next family dinner.

Thank goodness for the Dawgs winning - cause my KC Chiefs can’t seem to pull out a W.  Played Henderson golf course prior to the dinner party and shot a 96 - not bad given I’ve only played four times in the past year.  Were you able to get on the golf course this summer?

Enjoy your travels this week and continued success with the tour.
Regards,
Hallie

Hey Bobby, this is for you.  Sorry you won’t be twittering anymore but would you reconsider?  Loved hearing from you.  You make everything sound like fun.  The picture of the salad and fries reminds me of me since I love salad and I use blue cheese dressing (has to be Marie’s chunky blue cheese) on my fries. Not that that means anything!!!

You have a lot of fans and we just want to hear from you.  It’s just like we’re keeping in touch with you.

I know you don’t know me but I feel like I’ve lost a friend.

I don’t cook or even “blog”,but I attended the Greenville, SC event today and have somehow felt inspired to do both.                                                                                            My twin and I recently lost our beloved Mom and I would love to surprise her with a visit to your restaurant. She is in Savannah quite frequently on business.                              How may we arrange a dining experience with a more                       more personal flare ?                    I could sense from you two that family is a priority.    Much thanks,  CK
