Thank you so much for the DELICIOUS recipes. I started my weight last program last month. I’m excited to get fit and lose weight for our Ultimate Class reunion this July. With five children its hard to find time to eat healthy let alone find time to exercise. Thanks for your support

Hi Bobby, when are you going to write a book? A collection of healthy recipes and fitness tips would be awesome. Please keep making our favorite foods more healthy, we sooo need it.

Just made the mac and cheese yesterday. It is delicious. With the nutritional information on the recipes it is easy to figure up the points values. I have been on weight watchers since 2001 and have maintained a 100 pound weight loss since the summer of 2002. All of your healthy recipes that I’ve tried are awesome. When are you going to come with a cookbook full of healthy recipes. It would be a major success. Thanks again for all of the recipes. Keep up the good work.

What a wonderful Easter my family and I had. We made the brunch from your Mom’s March/April magazine. It was my day to fudge a little. Enjoyed everything. I lost a couple more pounds!!! I have been trying your recipes and converting them to the lo-cal mayo and such. But, sometimes you just have to treat yourself and then work off the extra calories.
Looking forward to hear some more ideas!! It has been snowing. So, off to the treadmill I go-Hopefully to the ski slope before they close.

Hey Bobby!
We all went to my parents for Easter brunch, we each brought a dish or two, and I made your lighter spinach and bacon quiche and smashed potato cakes and they were both SO good! It was a hit with everyone! Next, I want to make the lighter chicken and asparagus crepes. It looks and sounds really yummy so I can’t wait to try this too. Do you have any snack ideas/recipes (sweet or savory)that are low in calories? I love fruit but I’m looking for something else. lol
Sorry this is off subject but your media room (parlor room
) pictured in Paula and Brandon’s new book is VERY cool!! Really nice, love the colors!
Take care! Marina

I started my running program this week. I have been trying more of your recipes. They are fabulous and delicious. It was a hard week to stay on track. Especially when there are partys to attend. This week has also been hard because my husband was notfied that his work will be closing its doors next month if it does not get sold. I think that when life happens its hard to stay focused and still maintain a healthy lifestyle. I know I like to get comfort food to help me through lifes challenges. Thanks for listening. I want to share with everyone that we have to stay postive and stay focused-we can do this!!

Hey Bobby!!
Thanks for the healthy swaps & encouragment to get fit. I hope you had a faboo birthday!!
I’ve switched to using egg whites in place of whole eggs when I bake, and sometimes the consistency just isn’t right. Do you think that a whole egg substitute (like Egg Beaters) would help or should I just go ahead and splurge on the whole egg when making a lighter version of something like a gooey butter cake?
Thanks again!

I think it is great that you take good care of yourself. I have been working out for years now and feel great. I lost about a hundred pounds by watching my calories and sodium intake and working out every day. I come from a family that likes to eat, both my parents are over weight. I think I inspired my mom to work out, she has also just about lost a hundred pounds. People that have not known me long sometimes think I am some skinny gal that can eat what ever I want, but that’s not true. I still keep a food journal even now just to keep myself on track. I am hoping to make it to the Real Women of Philadelphia competition. You can watch my entry videos, I even calculated the calories per a serving for those recepies.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Bobby,
Just checking out this part of your site…what a great idea, and I truly hope people jump on board, and make healthy adjustments in their cooking. Cutting down on calories is wonderful, but people need to understand that you have to move as well…I work in the restaurant business too, and try and take 15-20 minutes a day, for situps, pushups and isolated muscle strengthening…and then with an early afternoon, or late evening, go on a walk or bike ride…In 3 months, I have lost 20 pounds…just by doing that small amount…It is not a sacrifice, and it truly makes a difference. My dogs like me more too…lol
Anyways, I will check back for some awesome recipes…I myself, am not a heavy cream or condiment user, so I am lucky that I have not had to withdraw from those…
Best to you all,
Chelsie

Hey Bobby,
Just wrote Jamie a note re: buttermilk when I saw your Mac & Cheese makeover recipe. I’ve been remaking recipes all my life I suppose, and one of my favorite tricks is using buttermilk to enhance the flavor of cheese dishes. I haven’t made your recipe yet, but adding - not substituting - about 1/4c to 1/2 cup of buttermilk may give it creaminess and cheesy tang. Have you done a nutrient analysis to compare the 2 recipes? Based on the fat and calories, it may be better to use regular, not reduced fat cheese, but less of it. If you’d like more help, just hollar! Hi Bobby,
HAPYY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
This is a GREAT idea… we all could use some tips, recipes and encouragement to stay fit & healthy. I am trying to lose 12 lbs,( turning 40 was the downfall) I know not very much, but it is a stinker trying to get it off! I started working out again and doing Zumba.. love it! I eat healthy, lots of fresh fruits and veggies… but I admit I LOVE sweets… maybe have them about 2-3 times a week.
Thanks for starting this! I look forward to more recipes and updates!

Hi Bobby and everyone,
I guess I am going to make this a weekly check to see what’s going on, and any new tips and hints others might suggest…My thought for the week, is to do two nights of vegetarian meals…Myself, I am doing a wonderful spinach salad with some brown rice stuffed portobellas before my ball game tonight….I hope you all share some wonderful veggie meals…thanks, chels

Just posted a Savory Salmon Patty recipe on Real Women of Philadelphia site and also on You Tube. It is a heart healthy dish with pink salmon, whole grain wheat toast, egg substitute, and lite mayo. It does not fall short on flavor because it has Philadelphia Garlic ‘N Herb Cream Cheese Spread inside and on the side in a yummy dipping sauce. Hope you like it.

Hi everyone!
What a great idea chelsie to have two nights of vegetarian meals. I usually try to do one-my family is resistent sometimes to it though. Its especially hard to plan meals and exercise around our families activities. If I plan ahead and prepare I can usually pull it off. This week I have to get back on track. I’m in my third week of my run/walk training plan. I had an awesome Mother’s Day/Son’s B-day. Only two months to go for my class reunion-yikes I better get with it to stay fit and healthy-Thanks, Paula

Cool Blog…not even sure how I stumbled accross it. What I do, because my boys, young and old, love Mac n Chz is I use whole wheat pasta, which they don’t even realize. It pumps up the protein content and lowers the carbs. The higher end brands of whole weat pasta are actually good, and I’m a pasta snob…I use Barilla or Dececco only. Also, I don’t use cream soup or cream, or even half and half. I make Bechamel (milk thickend with roux) using skim milk. It cuts the fat by a good amount and it’s still thick and rich. I agree with you, lets not give up the family recipes, lets just modify them a bit so we can still kayak around the bay or hike up that mountain. Thanks for the great forum. Hi Everyone,
The brown rice which I combined with sauted vidalia onion, so glad they are in season now, green peppers, and button mushrooms were awesome. I like a lil heat, so when I sauteed I add both red pepper flakes and cayenne.. In addition to two vegetarian meals, we will do one fish, two pork, two chix. I love a good steak and maybe do this twice a month. I am a big nut and fortified pasta eater as well. Although, I only do pasta probably twice a month too. Last night I made roasted asparagus and homemade fries, to go with smoked turkey hero sandwiches loaded with veggies. Today is spicy grilled shrimp caesar salad with homemade croutons from the leftover hero buns..I am sticking to my daily workouts, and have not drank pop four months. It is amazing how when you quit drinking pop, you do not have food cravings. Best to you all!!! Chels

Bobby,
Great to see you taking some of the classics and making them healthier. As the owner of a Gluten-Free Bakery i see how hard it is for people to find healthy, natural food. I have used some of your recipes to create Gluten-Free versions and they have turned out fabulous!
P.S. I have a total crush on you since I saw you on your Mom’s show. I love your accent. So if you are ever up in my part of the world…Erin

Hi everyone,
It has been sometime-I want to thank you Bobby that you have this site. I have stuck with my exercise plan. I feel so much better physically and emotionally. Its only two more weeks until our ultimate class reunion. I’m very excited about seeing old friends and ones I have remained in contact with. We did hear about my husband’s job and they will be closing the plant in September. At first I was very negative, but I now know that I have to remain positive and focused and the good Lord just has another adventure for us!!! It would be nice to hear from you.
Thanks-Paula

Hi Bobby,
Love your new section and look forward to the tips you can give. What about a list of alternatives for ingredients that will lower the fat in recipes. One alternative I know about is to replace half the amount of butter in a recipe with either a smashed banana or unsweetened applesauce. Believe me, this really works and it doesn’t change the taste. Do you know of any other alternatives?
Thanks for the great section!!
